Durham Law Review has collaborated with Durham Law School to provide this easy-access blog for students to improve their academic writing. As such, all submissions will receive feedback from our Blog Editors, comprised of students and academics from the Law School.
We accept submissions from any student, and the aim of the Blog is to encourage students to improve and practise their legal writing. All submissions will be edited and posted on the Blog .
As part of an initiative to encourage undergraduate legal writing, submissions will be shortlisted termly to be judged by faculty members of the Law School. There will be a £50 cash prize awarded for the best blog article per term.
Submissions Guidelines:
• Submit your article to our email lawreview.society@durham.ac.uk.
• The Law Review will release 5 topics across the year, they will be broad in nature but will contain some specific thinking points for further guidance. We ask that submissions take a legal approach to the topic.
• The article should be 500-1000 words including footnotes (word count is flexible).
• Please include references in OSCOLA format in the footnotes.
For reference, our team of editors will use this Blog Review Criteria (adapted from the Law School’s own marking guidance) to review all submitted articles. Prospective authors are also encouraged to consult this Writing Skills page provided by the Law School.
